The Australian Rail Track Corporation is a Government of Australia owned statutory corporation, that manages most of Australia’s interstate rail network.
The Brief
Axiom were commissioned to create a transformative office for ARTC in which they would work in an agile, flexible fashion. It was a directive to adapt the agile working approach nationally. Half of the local Sydney team were set up to work that way anyway as they were often out in the field, however, the other portion of the team had to shift work habits as they were accustomed to working at assigned work points and within individual, dedicated offices.
The accommodation of FIFO team members were important and the creation of a mutual, shared social space to bring the two sections of the business together was also a consideration. The project was undertaken with the intention to retain as much of the existing fitout as possible.
The Outcome
Axiom created a welcoming coffee point within the arrivals area for FIFO visitors and staff to co-mingle outside of the normal work environment and have their incidental connections. There was a touch down area created outside of the larger meeting rooms for FIFO visitors to bunker down between meetings.
All individual storage was accommodated within lockers and the floor effectively split into two sections to cater for the very different business needs. One half of the floor had more small VC rooms created for teams to come together and discuss projects where the other half had more quiet work spaces available.
