hipages is Australia’s number one site for hiring tradies. The company’s vision was to make its Sydney headquarters feel like a second home to employees.
The Brief
Axiom was engaged to think beyond typical design for corporate spaces to create a sustainable and unique workspace. The first challenge was to make the office feel and look like a home for clients and staff. hipages also wanted to make sure the workplace enabled staff to connect with their clients – the tradies. Finally, the new office had to naturally segregate the software architects and head office functions from the noisier sales team and breakout area.The Outcome
We merged the office space with domestic features to strengthen the link between home and work. We enhanced the environment outside the office – upgrading the balconies – to improve the inside. The typical corporate lift lobby look and feel was dramatically changed to look like the external façade of a home. To make clients more comfortable in the office, meeting and quiet rooms were themed to represent the tradies. Lastly, the breakout and collaboration zone was used to create a buffer between the teams, and the breakout was placed in an isolated area within the floor.
The result was an unconventional link between home and the workplace intended to inspire staff, promote productivity and reinforce the hipages brand.
