Ironfish is one of Australia’s leading investment companies. As specialists in helping investors build their own diverse property portfolio, they educate and mentor through seminars, face-to-face meetings and regular information updates.
The Brief
Given their business expansion, Ironfish had outgrown their St Leonards office, both in space and in market position. They traded in their former two-floor office for a single larger floor in North Sydney with enviable harbour views. The new location allowed for a more impressive front-of-house area that reflects their brand and accommodates larger functions.
In setting up the new office, Ironfish wanted their incredible view of the harbour in the far corner to be part of front-of-house area. They also wanted to provide staff with a significantly improved breakout area. Lastly, the company needed to make sure that strong feng shui principles were taken in to consideration when designing and developing the new workplace.
The Outcome
The open workspace was designed with growth in mind, while still giving staff the option to break away into meeting spaces or small, quiet work spaces. Care was taken in setting a hospitable, warm tone that is welcoming and not too corporate. The new office was a dramatic jump, in size and look & feel in that they moved from an undesirable space in St Leonards to a beautiful building in North Sydney with a high-end breakout area.
The Axiom team built a long and narrow reception area that provided a magnificent view of the harbour. A functional and inviting breakout space was also created, which gives them the necessary traffic-flow access when hosting functions. This makes managing the space and its required back-of-house admin operations possible, and also provides an enjoyable social area for staff, which they did not have previously.
There was close consideration given to feng shui principles, which informed the locations of some key staff and their relationships with others. Axiom researched the proper channels and sought consultancy as to desk positioning and furniture placement.
